I see my body as the fragile connection and boundary between others and myself. I follow this idea across different disciplines--choosing the most effective medium to fit the concept. Conceptual motivations are the impetus for laborious, interdisciplinary processes, but artistic systems evolve based upon a physical engagement with the intrinsic structure and capabilities of materials. The resulting artworks are thematically connected through an introspection of self. In addition to self-portraiture, recurrent themes in recent work include layering, perception, and translations, which overlap and create a web of connections throughout my body of work. These different concepts and approaches link through choices in material and process.
